June was a fantastic month for Friends of Borsdane Wood and Rayner Park, with our volunteers giving an incredible 115 hours of their time across the month.

This was a particularly busy few weeks for the group. Volunteers supported all four weekends of the recent “God’s Love Story” exhibition at St John’s Methodist Church in Hindley, helping to welcome visitors and support the event throughout June. It was lovely to be involved with such a positive local community project, and we were pleased to play a part in helping it run successfully.

Alongside this, volunteers have also been out in the woodland carrying out a number of balsam bashes. Himalayan balsam can spread quickly and outcompete native plants, so this kind of practical conservation work makes a real difference to the long-term health of the woodland. Every session helps, and we are very grateful to everyone who has given their time and energy to this work.

We were also delighted to welcome a keen new volunteer to the group in June. It is always encouraging to see new people getting involved, and every extra pair of hands helps us continue caring for Borsdane Wood and Rayner Park.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time in June. Whether you helped at the exhibition, joined a balsam bash, supported behind the scenes, or gave your time in another way, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Coming Up: Art Exhibition in July

Friends of Borsdane Wood and Rayner Park are also pleased to offer the upcoming Art Exhibition at St John’s Methodist Church, Hindley, taking place on:

Saturday 4th July
Saturday 11th July
11am until 3pm

The exhibition will feature work by local artists, with free entry and donations welcome in support of the church. Children are also invited to take part, with the opportunity to display one piece of artwork and receive a small gift.

It promises to be a lovely community event, and all are welcome to come along, enjoy the artwork, and support local creativity.

Thank you again to all our volunteers for a wonderful month of support. 115 hours is a brilliant total, and it shows just how much can be achieved when people give their time to help their local community.
